Spring Fair 2018 Experience: Emma Lawrence

What has been your highlight of Spring Fair 2018?

The highlight for me was attending the Gift of the Year awards evening where I was awarded Highly Commended in the Children’s Gift category for my Little Nature Explorers® range.  The range includes, notepads, stickers, wildflower seed paper, colour-in cards, badges and bug mugs.  At the awards dinner I was introduced to a fantastic British company who are keen to license some of my designs so by the end of the evening I felt like I was the winner!  It’s going to lead to lots of exciting developments.

How has being a part of Buy-From Shropshire and the Giftware Association stand helped your presence at the show?

Being part of the stand meant that we stood out and the GA always attract people to their stand.  The stand itself had a great design which meant that people stopped to look which made it easier to engage with them.  It gave us credibility and the team were a great source of support, comradery and fun over the 5 days.  The help and support from the other producers was fantastic.  The Gift of the Year award also helped to bring people to my stand.

What are your thoughts on future trade shows like Spring Fair?

I would very much like to do another trade show now.  I loved every minute of it.

What experience have you gained from the show?

I have gained a huge amount of experience, from learning the easiest ways to set up and break down, to advice about card agents, licensing, sourcing products and even display of items.  I have also developed friendships and got to meet some amazing people.  It has also given me the confidence to keep going.

On average, how many contacts/leads have you gained?

Approximately 35 as well as a number of orders, several commissions, an agent, a licensing partnership and another potential one.
