How would you describe your work?

Illustrations inspired by animals, wildlife and flowers which feature on greeting cards and gifts which are all made in the UK.  The illustrations are fresh, fun and almost always carry my trademark little bird.  All the illustrations are hand drawn in ink and then coloured with a variety of pencils and crayons or digitally coloured, giving them a clear and distinctive style.

I have also written and illustrated 2 children’s books which are part of the Little Explorers Series published by Brambleby Books.  I am keen to encourage young children to learn about our fascinating and beautiful natural world whilst having fun learning about the cheeky and charming characters.

How did you start?

After working as a Clinical Psychologist and more than 20 years in the NHS, I was keen to pursue her love of drawing.  I started with illustrations on cards for friends and family and then sold them to a few local shops.  My first published illustration, the Life Cycle of Soil, featured in a gardening book and received international interest.  Following that, my own children’s books were published and she has worked on a number of exciting and interesting commissions, some for the NHS.

What is special about your prints and designs?

Many designs are fun and appealing with farm animals wearing wellies or birds with handbags or headscarves.  Almost all my designs feature a little bird which reflects my interest in wildlife.  Many are of wildflowers as I feel they are often overlooked but can be so beautiful when studied more closely.  I am inspired by the beautiful Shropshire countryside in which I live.

What do you love most about your job?

Drawing! Doing what I have always loved and being able to spend more time with my family, especially my two daughters.

What is your best-selling design? Why do you think this is?

The Shropshire Sheep design as it’s great for sending to friends or family and it will definitely make them smile.
