Describe Organik Orangutan soaps: ‘Palm oil free’,  Organic, Vegan

Organik Orangutan Vegan, Palm Oil Free Soaps

How did your business start?

As a textile artist I was felting soap and gradually realised I was making an ethical product with a chemical core. So I decided to learn to make my own soap, only using organic and natural ingredients.

Have you got a favourite product?

Yes, my luxury facial soap Forest Queen. What do you love about it? It leaves my face feeling beautifully moisturised and it contains extra nourishing oils and French pink clay.

What is your best-selling product?

Gentle Bonobo which is excellent for sensitive skin and Bidu Bidu - people love the scent and that it is named after my adopted orangutan.

What do you love most about running your organic soap business?

I love the soap making process and spreading the word on how much better natural handmade soap is for your skin and hair. I also love meeting and chatting with people at events.

With all that has been achieved in your career so far, what are you most proud of?

Developing my own soap recipes and gaining my safety assessments from a chartered chemist allowing me to sell my soaps legally.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own creative business?

If you believe in your product, do your research, test the market and go for it.

What are your plans for your business this year?

Moving forward by attending more events, boosting sales, approaching retailers and developing and bringing new products to market such as facial/body oils and butters.
