HOBSONS BREWERY: Buy-From Shropshire Food & Drink Hub @ Ludlow Food Festival

1. You exhibited at last year’s Food Festival - what was the highlight and what are you looking forward to most at this year’s Festival?

Hobsons has been exhibiting at the Ludlow Food Festival since the very beginning when it was a mere handful of exhibitors setting out their tables at the festival held in Ludlow College. I think this is our 24th festival! We are looking forward to launching the “reusable festival cup” at this year’s festival as part of our collaboration with the organisers to reduce waste and be more responsible in the way it deals with plastic.  It’s also our 25th Anniversary so we will be promoting our Hobsons 25 beer both in bottles and cask. Plus we are very excited to the showcasing our brand new airstream 24ft bar! This will be located inside the castle and will have all our cask ales and Oldfields ciders for visitors to enjoy.

2. What inspired you to turn your food/drink product into a business?

See our film which talks about how the brewery started…..

3. Tell us about a typical working day in the life of your business.

Our brewers arrive early to start their brew, normally around 6am. We have a tea break at 8am with all the drivers and brewers, we plan the day and have a good chin wag about the latest football scores or news topics of the day. Drivers head out while the brewers resume their brewing. Each day varies according to the requirements of the business and responding to customer needs.

4. Is there anything new & exciting happening within your business that we can look forward?
As mentioned above, it’s our 25th Anniversary so we have created a special brew called “Hobsons 25” it has a malt body of a traditional English bitter with a clean easy and mellow fruit character.
