Christmas Gifts for Him

If, like us, you are wondering how it is already December (did we blink in Autumn and miss something?) you may be sharing the all-too familiar worry of wondering what you are going to buy the men in your life this Christmas.

Don’t panic. Certain chain stores may be pushing their Christmas agenda with messages of the “must-have” and “last chance” products, but buying presents really doesn’t need to be as high-pressure as some companies would like you to think. If you shop locally this year, you not only get to avoid the commercial pressures of some big stores, but you can also buy really unique, special gifts that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

Buy-From Shropshire happens to know of some sellers with rather lovely gifts for men. Here’s our gift guide for him.

1) Bennett & Dunn oils

Bennett & Dunn produce oils that taste great and are healthy. In particular, their rapeseed oil has a low saturated fat content and is packed with omega 3, 6 and 9 and vitamin E.

We recommend their gift boxes which can include three oils of your choice for only £11.99; for any food-lover in your life, these are sure to be a hit.

2) Richard Childs Photography

For a really special gift, prints of Richard Childs’ photography are ideal. Whether choosing photos that Childs has taken locally or further afield, his work makes a striking addition to the home.

There are some incredible options on his website, but we particularly love his photograph of ‘Sun Turbine’ from Shirlett Woods (£60 - £125) and ‘Aonach Eagach Reflection’ of Loch Achriochtan in Glencoe (£60 - £175).

3) Reg May’s Pies

Hearty pies are an essential for the Christmas dinner table. If the recipient of your gifts loves meat pies, you (and they) are in luck with Reg May’s award-winning artisan products which are available to buy online. The hand-raised chicken and Shropshire blue pie is a cheesy, meaty delight. From £2 for a small pie to £12 for family-sized, they look and taste mouth-wateringly good while remaining well-priced. And, for £25, you can mix and match six large pies to really treat one person, or to gift six different people with the joys of pies this Christmas.

4) Hobson's Gift Pack

Hobsons is a local favourite. While a selection of Hobsons beer is usually a much-welcome gift by itself, you can also buy one of Hobsons’ gift packs which are that little bit more special.

This 25 December, you could treat someone to the Hobsons 25 gift pack which was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the local brewery. It cost £9.99 and includes a 500ml bottle of Hobsons 25, a goblet glass and a pair of bright, stripy socks.

Another great choice is the Old Prickly gift pack for £9.50 which includes two 500ml bottles of Old Prickly, a Hobsons Old Prickly pint glass and a bag of Spike’s hedgehog food.

5) Bradley’s The Tannery

Based in Bridgnorth, Bradley’s The Tannery produce handmade, varied and high-quality leather products. Depending on their interests, you are likely to find something your friends, family and significant others will love from Bradley’s. For gardeners, we recommend the heritage half leather & linen waist apron for £48. It is sturdy, smart and has a handy zip and pocket for tools. Their heritage leather poachers bag is also a great pick for £125, with soft and durable material, and it’s available in tan, black or a gorgeous deep brown colour.
