Ginger and Spice Festival

The Ginger and Spice Festival is making a welcome return this September (26-29 Sept 18) for a four day celebration of all things ginger & spice related, including gingerbread, secret recipes and a town with links to the ancient spice routes. Artisan Spicy Food Market is Saturday 29th September only!

Visitors can step into the exotic and fascinating world of gingerbread whilst also enjoying an abundance of specialty food and drink with plenty of produce featuring a ginger twist!

There will be the Leek United heritage Spice Trail dedicated to exploring the town’s culinary history including tastings of local specialty food and drink. Visitors can also enjoy many fringe events such as a Gin and Jazz Evening exploring Gin and Ginger/Spice; a live music concert with Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross & local singer song writer Heidi Browne; pop-up restaurants; foraging walks; film night; ginger inspired competitions & a vibrant and spicy street market (the Spice Exchange) on Saturday 29th September in the centre of Market Drayton. The Spice Exchange Street market will include food tastings, spicy beer, cookery demos, live music plus educational outreach about seasonal and local food. There’s everything from ginger teas, spicy pies, chocolate enrobed ginger, spice-infused jams, aromatic gin, local real ale, cured gourmet meats as well as a host of ginger-themed delicacies!

Whilst the spicy street market is free, visitors should expect to pay for some events taking place in the evening and at private venues in the town. Booking ahead for these private events is essential. The festival takes place during British Food Fortnight!
